RF Engineer

Job Title

RF Systems Engineer – Wideband Spectrum Sensing, DF & Beamforming

Position Type

Contract or Full Time

About the Role

We are looking for a skilled and hands-on RF Systems Engineer to develop a wideband RF sensing module prototype for spectrum analysis and signal classification. This role involves designing and integrating RF hardware that captures and processes signals, with support for direction finding (DF) and beamforming capabilities. The RF engineer will work closely with an AI Specialist to ensure the complete end-to-end system is optimized for high-performance signal classification using machine learning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement a  wideband RF front-end capable of signal acquisition including filtering, amplification, and downconversion stages.
  • Select and integrate appropriate Software-Defined Radio, prototype components or custom RF hardware platforms based on performance, budget, and application needs.
  • Develop the system architecture and prepare a professional prototype for testing and demonstration.
  • Implement or integrate Direction Finding (DF) and beamforming algorithms, using phased array systems or rotating antenna mechanisms as appropriate.
  • Coordinate procurement of hardware components and RF modules. Prepare a detailed system budget and component sourcing plan.
  • Perform signal capture, calibration, noise floor analysis, dynamic range measurements, and field testing.
  • Work closely with the AI Specialist to ensure proper data synchronization, interfacing between the RF system and AI-based signal classification engine, training the system for signal classifications.
  • Develop documentation and support the team during field testing and evaluation.

Required Qualifications

  • MSc or PhD in Electrical Engineering, RF Engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in RF systems design, product development and prototyping.
  • Solid understanding of RF signal chain design, frequency mixing, and analog front-end development.
  • Proficient in RF hardware integration using SDR platforms
  • Hands-on experience with beamforming and direction finding techniques.
  • Familiarity with tools such as MATLAB, LabView, GNU Radio.
  • Experience with spectrum measurement, RF shielding, calibration, and testing procedures.
  • Understanding of hardware-software interfacing (e.g., using Python and C++).

Preferred Skills

  • Experience in building mission-critical RF systems or military-grade spectrum monitoring solutions.
  • Knowledge of ELINT/SIGINT systems
  • Familiarity with embedded systems, FPGA-based signal processing, or high-speed data buses.
  • Knowledge of antenna array design and integration.
  • Exposure to projects involving AI-powered signal detection, or cooperation with software/ML teams.
  • Experience with cyclostationary signal analysis and spectral correlation techniques for interference identification and advanced signal classification.

Key Attributes

  • Strong system-level thinking and attention to detail.
  • Ability to plan and deliver hardware prototypes on time and within budget.
  • Collaborative mindset with willingness to work cross-functionally.
  • Problem-solving approach with readiness for field testing and troubleshooting.

Benefits & Opportunities

  • Be part of a cutting-edge product in the AI-powered RF analysis space.
  • Opportunity to shape a system at the intersection of telecom, defense, and AI.
  • Flexible working environment with collaboration at the edge of innovation.
  • Competitive compensation package, including performance-based incentives and stock option opportunities.
